On October 24, 2025, at the invitation of Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to China H.E. Mr. Djauhari Oratmangun, President of Home and Abroad News Press Mrs. Wei Yan attended the reception celebrating the 80th anniversary of Indonesia's independence with ambassadors from many countries at the banquet hall of the China World Hotel in Beijing. Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China Mr. Sun Weidong and Vice Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee Ms. Sun Haiyan attended the reception as Chinese chief guests. They extended congratulations on Indonesia's 80th Independence Day and celebrated the enduring friendship between China and Indonesia.

Vice Minister Sun Weidong met with Indonesian Ambassador Djauhari Oratmangun before the dinner. Sun extended congratulations on Indonesia's 80th National Day. He noted that the recent important meeting between President Xi Jinping and President Prabowo Subianto had charted the course for the next phase of bilateral relations. China stands ready to work with Indonesia to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, continuously advance the building of a China-Indonesia community with a shared future, and make greater contributions to regional peace and stability as well as global development and prosperity.

Ambassador Djauhari Oratmangun stated that President Prabowo places high importance on developing relations with China. The two countries maintain close high-level exchanges, with cooperation in economic, trade, and cultural fields continuously deepening. Indonesia is willing to work with China to take the celebration of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations as an opportunity to promote traditional friendship, deepen solidarity and cooperation, and propel bilateral relations to new heights.

At 7:00 PM, the national anthems of the Republic of Indonesia and the People's Republic of China were played in the banquet hall, followed by Indonesian tropical music. Ambassador Djauhari Oratmangun delivered a speech. He stated that this year marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and China. For over half a century, China and Indonesia have consistently upheld the principles of mutual respect and mutual benefit, jointly advancing the continuous development of bilateral relations. From the historical legacy of the 1955 Bandung Conference to today's deep integration of the Belt and Road Initiative with Indonesia's “Global Maritime Fulcrum” strategy, cooperation between the two nations has expanded across diverse fields including politics, economy, trade, culture, and maritime affairs, setting a model for regional collaboration in the new era. We hope to take this celebration as an opportunity to further deepen exchanges and cooperation between localities. By upholding the Bandung Spirit, we will jointly advance regional peace and development, contributing the wisdom and strength of China and Indonesia to global governance.

In his address, Ambassador Djauhari Oratmangun recalled how the predecessors of both nations shook hands amidst the ruins in 1950. He reaffirmed that the commitment to the “Bandung Spirit” holds greater relevance today than ever before, and announced that Indonesia and China have elevated their cooperation from the “Four Pillars” to the “Five Pillars,” encompassing political, economic, maritime affairs, socio-cultural ties, and security domains. “As a significant and economically dynamic nation in the region, Indonesia continues to contribute to regional and global peace, stability, and prosperity.” Later, in the resplendent banquet hall, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong, Chinese Vice Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee Sun Haiyan, and Ambassador Djauhari Oratmangun and his wife jointly cut a coconut sugar cake and raised their glasses to celebrate Indonesia's 80th Independence Day.
