Shantou, a national marine cultural industry demonstration base, is a collection of all kinds of treasure-like tridacnas from the South China Sea, the Pacific Ocean and the Indian Ocean, including "King of Pearls" and "Buddha Longevity Pearl". On November 20th, members of the Home and Abroad News Press Ambassador’s Club visited Shantou World Tridacna and Pearl Exhibition Center. Various kinds of jade pearls impressed all foreign diplomats.
各国使节聆听“附壳珍珠之王”的由来
使节们听取了世界砗磲珍珠博览馆负责人介绍砗磲珍珠生产的全过程，在参观博览馆中他们了解到：砗磲，是海洋中最大的双壳贝类，被称为“贝王”，可作佛珠及装饰宝石。这里收藏了独一无二的千年砗磲贝其肉里长出来的游离珍珠“生命之珠”，重量2036克，是原世界最大的同类珍珠“亚洲之珠”的16.8倍，被誉为世界“珍珠之王”;此外，还有另一颗世界“附壳珍珠之王”，这是附着在砗磲贝壳内形成的附壳珍珠，重量约20公斤，是原世界最大同类珍珠“老子之珠”的3.15倍，美名曰“佛珠万寿山”。
