On the morning of April 17th, 2022, invited by His Excellency Dr. PalithaKohona, Sri Lankan Ambassador to China, President of Home and Abroad News Press Mrs. Wei Yan, Executive DirectorMr. Liu Dengchen, Vice President Ms. Chen Xi and Mr. Ban Xiaoxu and Chief Translator Ms. Albee Zhang as well as the Pakistani Ambassador to China H.E. Mr. Moin UI Haque, Indian Ambassador to China H.E. Mr. Pradeep Kumar Rawat and many other guests came to the Sri Lankan Embassy in China to attend the festival celebration of Sri Lankan traditional new year.
每年4月的这一天是斯里兰卡最重要的传统节日——僧伽罗和泰米尔新年，相当于中国传统春节。在当天活动上，斯里兰卡驻华大使帕利塔•科霍纳阁下发表了热情洋溢的讲话。他说，新年这天对于斯里兰卡人民来说是非常重要的一天，我们要去兑现承诺，去寻求更好的结果，我们在新年这一天充满期待，新的一年，我们家人团聚一起，祝福我们的国家富裕强大。
In April every year, it is the most important traditional festival in Sri Lanka - Sinhalese and Tamil New Year, which is equivalent to the traditional Chinese Spring Festival. On the day of the event, Sri Lankan Ambassador to China,Dr. PalithaKohona, delivered a warm speech. He said that New YearDay is a very important day for the Sri Lankan people. We have to fulfill our promises and seek better future. We are full of expectations on this New Year Day with our happy families and friends. We also wish our country to be prosperous and strong.
斯里兰卡每年4月这一天是太阳由双鱼座进入白羊座的时刻，意味着旧的一年即将过去，标志着新的一年12个月轮回的开始。这一期间太阳直射斯里兰卡国土，一个农业丰收的季节。这个结合宗教、文化、历史等诸多因素的节日被兰卡僧伽罗及泰米尔两大民族共同认定为新年。依据星象师占卜，新年的第一天早上起床、做饭吃饭、刨第一镐土、种第一棵树、打第一桶水、包括选择位置煮溢椰奶饭等等，都要根据吉时来进行。
Every April, when the sun moves from Pisces into Aries, which marks the beginning of the new year's 12-month cycle. During this period, the sun shines directly on the land of Sri Lanka for a great harvest season. This festival, which combines religion, culture, history and many other factors, is recognized as the New Year by the two ethnic groups, Sinhalese and Tamil. According to the astrological divination, on the first day of the new year, people are getting up in the morning, cooking and eating, digging the first soil, planting the first tree, pouring the first bucket of water, including choosing the right location to cook the overflowing coconut milk rice etc.
斯里兰卡人新年的传统习俗--煮沸椰奶罐。主人会选择一个吉时，还要在特定的吉祥方位起火架锅。必须让锅里的椰奶满溢出来，当地人相信这预示着未来一年会幸福满溢。
The traditional custom of Sri Lankan New Year - boiling coconut milk cans. The host will choose an auspicious timeand also set the pot on the fire in a specific auspicious position. The pot must be overflowing with coconut milk, which locals believe heralds an overflowing year of happiness.

At the event, Mrs. Wei Yanhad friendly exchanges with ambassadors from various countries, shared the news articles of Home and Abroad News Press Ambassador’s Club just published in the Home and Abroad News magazine. All guests watched Sri Lankan traditional song and dance performances, and shared traditional Sri Lankan cuisines together.
70年前，中斯冲破重重阻力，签署了具有历史意义的《米胶协定》，打开了两国友好交往地大门。2月7日是中国同斯里兰卡建交65周年纪念日。建交65年来，两国始终相互尊重、团结互助、在设计彼此核心利益的问题上相互支持，中斯关系成为大小国家友好相处、互利合作的典范。新冠肺炎疫情发生后，中斯同舟共济、守望相助、传统友谊得到新的升华。
70 years ago, China and Sri Lanka broke through many obstacles and signed the historic Rubber-Rice Agreement, opening the door to friendly exchanges between the two countries. February 7th marks the 65thanniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Sri Lanka. Since 65 years ago, the two countries have always respected, united and helped each other, and supported on issues of designing each other's core interests. During the COVID-19 pandemic, China and Sri Lanka have worked together and helped each other to overcome many challenges. The traditional friendship has been developed to a new level.
