Dr. Kenneth Sentle Rabale, and other Ambassadors to China attended the "51st Anniversary of China-Mauritius Diplomatic Relations" ceremony at the China World Hotel in Beijing. The Ambassador of Mauritius to China H.E. Mr. Marie Roland Alain Wong Yen Cheong delivered a welcome speech. The representatives of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Liaison of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Ministry of Commerce, international organizations and many central enterprises attended the event as well.
招待会开始, 会场上奏响了毛里求斯共和国国歌、中华人民共和国国歌。毛里求斯驻华大使王纯万阁下致欢迎辞。他说,过去51年来，中国和毛里求斯双边关系蓬勃发展。双方彼此尊重，高层交流十分密切，政治互信与日俱增，在地区和国际事务中的务实合作也在不断扩大。毛里求斯是最早承认中华人民共和国的国家之一，中国文化也在毛里求斯多民族人口中生根发芽。展望未来，愿两国间的友谊在下一个51年乃至更长的时间里历久弥坚。
The reception started with the National Anthem of the Republic of Mauritius and the National Anthem of the People's Republic of China. The Ambassador of Mauritius to China H.E. Marie Roland Alain Wong Yen Cheong delivered a welcome speech. He said that the bilateral relations between China and Mauritius have flourished over the past 51 years. Both countries respect each other and enhance political trust and practical cooperation through high-level exchanges in regional and international affairs. Mauritius was one of the first countries to recognize the People's Republic of China, and Chinese culture has taken root among the multi-ethnic population of Mauritius. Looking ahead, may the friendship between the two countries endure for the next 51 years and beyond.
王纯万大使指出, 中国人开展的贸易活动也大大促进了毛里求斯经济发展。如今，中毛合作已经走过了51年。当年，中国在毛里求斯开设了首个海外中国文化中心，这是两国之间美好友谊的证明。
He also noted that the trade activities carried out by the Chinese people have also greatly contributed to the economic development of Mauritius. With 51 years of China and Mauritius cooperation, China opened the first overseas Chinese cultural center in Mauritius, which is a testimony of the wonderful friendship between the two countries.
中毛两国还开展了大量合作，毛里求斯从中受益良多：包括一些体育场馆和体育设施项目，例如最近建成的毛里求斯综合体育中心，建有符合奥运会标准的泳池、体育场，可以举办国际赛事。此外，还有拉姆古兰爵士国际机场、巴加泰勒水坝等项目。很多中国企业进驻毛里求斯, 例如晋煤集团以及“智慧城市”项目都取得了飞速发展。中国银行在2016年进入了毛里求斯。华为也在毛里求斯设立了非洲地区财务共享中心。合作项目之多肯定了两国间的合作确实非常广泛。
There is also a lot of cooperation between China and Mauritius, from which Mauritius has benefited greatly, including a number of sports stadiums and sports facilities projects, such as the recently completed Mauritius Integrated Sports Centre with Olympic-standard swimming pool and track and field stadium, which can host international sports events. There are also massive projects such as the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport and the Bagatelle Dam. Many Chinese companies are present in Mauritius, such as Jin Coal Group and the "Smart City" projects etc. The Bank of China entered Mauritius in 2016. Huawei has also set up an African regional financial sharing center in Mauritius. Many cooperation projects strongly prove that the cooperation and partnership between the two countries are indeed extensive.
毛里求斯被誉为“一带一路”中非合作的“桥头堡”。岛上矿产，淡水等资源匮乏。历届政府都积极推行经济多元化政策，重视完善法规，外汇可自由进出。近年来，政府大力发展信息技术和通讯业。如今毛里求斯致力于建设一个面向所有机遇“开放”、全方位“连接”、各方面平衡的亚非共同体。
Mauritius is known as the "bridgehead" of "Belt and Road" China-Africa cooperation. The island has very limited mineral and fresh water resources. Successive governments have actively pursued economic diversification policies, paying attention to the improvement of regulations and free access to foreign exchange. The Deputy Director General of the Department of Africa of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that China attaches great importance to China-Mauritius relations. Since the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, the two countries have offered each other assistance to further develop the solid friendship between China and Mauritius.
