习近平23日在人民大会堂会见了法国梅里埃基金会主席阿兰·梅里埃。习近平表示，中法关系是中国同西方大国之间建立最早、发展较好的双边关系。两国建交近半个世纪来，开展了许多具有战略意义的交流与合作。中方高度重视中法关系，愿同法方一道，抓住新机遇，不断扩大各领域交流合作，为中法新型全面战略伙伴关系发展注入新活力。习近平充分肯定梅里埃基金会为促进中法友谊与合作所作出的重要贡献，相信通过两国各界人士的共同努力，中法关系的未来会更加美好。

Vice President Xi Jinping met with the Chairman of French Foundation Merieux Mr. Alain Merieux at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on the 23rd. He said the China and France’s relationship was establish the earliest and well developed bilateral relations between China and the Western powers. In the past half a century, the diplomatic relations between the two countries have been established and developed through many significant exchanges and collaborations. China attaches great importance to this relationship and willing to join hands with France to seize new opportunities, expand cooperation in various fields, and create new momentums to China and France new strategic partnership development. Xi Jinping fully affirmed that the Foundation Mérieux made important contributions to promote China and France friendship and cooperation. He believed that through the joint efforts of people from the two countries, the future China and France’s relationship will become more prosperous.  

        习近平表示，中国政府高度重视卫生事业发展，强调把保护人民健康和生命安全放在重要位置。中国将继续推动卫生事业的改革发展，初步建立覆盖城乡居民的基本医疗卫生制度，健全基本医疗保障制度，完善公共卫生和医疗服务体系，进一步提高人民群众健康水平。

     Xi Jinping also expressed that the Chinese government attaches great importance to the development of national-wide health services and focuses on the important task to protect and improve Chinese people’s health and safety. China will continue to promote reforming the healthcare system, establish the basic medical and healthcare networks covering both urban and rural areas and enhance the basic medical insurance system as well as the public health services system in order to further improve the people’s health standards.

     习近平赞赏梅里埃基金会长期关注和支持公众健康事业，并同中国卫生部门在结核病防治、医院感染控制、新发传染病防控等领域开展的积极广泛的合作。习近平希望梅里埃基金会今后继续支持中国医疗卫生事业的发展。

     Xi Jinping highly appreciated the Foundation Mérieux’s long-term supports to the public health concerns and its successful collaboration with Chinese health sector for TB prevention, control of hospital infections, prevention and control of new communicable diseases and other areas. Xi Jinping hopes that the Foundation Mérieux will continue to cooperate with China to support and assist the devolvement of Chinese medical and healthcare industries.

         阿兰·梅里埃表示，基金会积极投身于发展中国家的传染病防控工作，将进一步加大与中国在公共卫生领域的合作力度，为中国疾病控制和健康事业发展做出贡献。

Mr. Merieux said, the Foundation actively involves in the prevention and control of infectious diseases in developing countries and it will further strengthen its cooperation with China in the public health concerns so that it can make more contributions to Chinese disease control and healthcare system development.
