On the afternoon of August 7th, “Witness Friendship”2024 Summer Home and Abroad News Press Junior Journalists interviewed the Namibian Ambassador to China H.E. Mr. Elia G. Kaiyamo. As soon as they met, Ambassador Kaiyamo told the junior journalists that Namibia is a very trustworthy African country. He also introduced that Namibia and other African countries "lifted" China into the United Nations. In 1971, China regained its seat in the United Nations, and the first person to go to the podium to congratulate was Namibian President Nujoma. The support of African countries was very important to China. China is a friend of Namibia, a forever friend. I want to tell the people in my country that there are many things to learn from China. 凯亚莫大使说，这是一个非常好的问题。首先我希望在座的每一个小记者要要学习非洲的历史，还有深入了解两国重要的人物，包括像纳米比亚“国父”努乔马阁下，还有中国的习近平主席，还有毛泽东、邓小平、周恩来等这些重要的人物在历史上的影响。其次小记者们都要有很好的自律，希望两国青年能够加深了解，长大共同解决两国发展中面临的挑战。
Ambassador Kaiyamosaid that this is a very good question.First of all, I hope that every junior journalisthere will learn the history of Africa, as well as gain a deeper understanding of the important figures of the two countries, including the “Father of Namibia”President Nujoma, as well as President Xi Jinping of China, and the influence of Mao Zedong, Deng Xiaoping, and Zhou Enlai, and so on, on history. Secondly junior journalists must learn and develop good self-discipline. It is hoped that the youth of the two countries can deepen their understanding and grow up to jointly solve the challenges facing the development of the two countries.

Ambassador Kaiyamomentioned about the Confucius Institute at the University of Namibia. He stated that in the future, China and Namibiacan continue to strengthen communication and exchanges, and carry out more fruitful cooperation in fields such as engineering, materials science, and jewelry design with the aim of deepening talent training and scientific research. He looks forward to opening a new chapter in the next decade and jointly promoting the development of education in both countries.
凯亚莫大使还随着小记者的提问介绍了纳米比亚政府是如何保护野生动物的。他说，纳米比亚是第一个把保护环境写入宪法的国家,是非洲国家对原始生态和环境保护最好的国家之一。纳米比亚为此制定了严格的法律保护该国的野生动植物, 到了纳米比亚，你们就能明白为什么说“纳米比亚是野生动物的天堂”！
Ambassador Kaiyamoalso introduced how the Namibian government protects wildlife. He said that Namibia was the first country to incorporate environmental protection into its constitution and is one of the best African countries in terms of protecting pristine ecosystems and the natural environment. Namibia has established strict laws to protect its wildlife, and once you come to Namibia, you will understand why “Namibia is a paradise for wildlife”!
凯亚莫大使已经是第二次在中国当大使了。他说：“自从我来到中国，我不断告诉我的国民，中国是一个伟大的国家，有很多东西可以向中国学习。”凯亚莫大使表示，中国共产党一直稳定、专注，还领导了脱贫攻坚，使数亿贫困人口成功摆脱了贫困，希望纳米比亚学习到成功经验。
Ambassador Kaiyamois already serving as an ambassador in China for the second time. He said: “Since I came to China, I have been telling my people that China is a great country and there are many things to learn from China.” He said that the CPC has been stable and focused, and has led the fight against poverty, which has successfully lifted hundreds of millions of poor people out of poverty. He hoped Namibia would learn this successful experience.
在采访结束，凯亚莫大使要赶去参加2024中非合作论坛工作会议，2024中非合作论坛 9月4日至6日在北京举行，届时，中非领导人时隔6年将再次聚首北京，共商未来发展合作大计，深入交流治国理政经验，凯亚莫对此充满期待。
At the end of the interview, Ambassador Kaiyamo needed to attend the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation work meeting, and the 2024 FOCAC Summit will be held in Beijing from September 4thto 6th. At that time, Chinese and African leaders will gather in Beijing again after six years to discuss future development cooperation plans and exchange in-depth experiences in governance.
