马耳他驻华大使卓嘉鹰是一位出色的外交官和政治家，曾任澳大利亚国家自然资源部长、青年及社区服务部长、教育部长等职。2015年12月任马耳他驻华大使。中马在文化、教育、卫生、民政等领域的交流与合作增多，签有多个合作文件。2016年4月7日，大使阁下推动的马耳他文化月活动登陆中国：《中马友好——马耳他油画及图片展》在北京开幕，以景色和静物呈现的画作吸引了众多中国民众驻足观赏。把马耳他文化飓风吹遍中国大地，开阔了中国人民的视野，让两国人民深深地融为一体。卓嘉鹰大使已经把自己融进中国人民中间，为两国友好关系的发展做出了实实在在的努力，2015年，马耳他成为亚投行意向创始成员国，是首批加入亚投行的欧洲国家之一。
Winning reasons:
Malta ambassador to China H.E. Mr. John Aquilina is an outstanding diplomat and politician who served as the Minister of Natural Resources, Minister of Youth and Community Services and Minister of Education. He was appointed as the Ambassador to China in December 2015. He actively promotes China and Malta’s cultural, educational, health, civil exchanges and cooperation and signed a number of bilateral cooperation documents. April 7th, 2016, organized through Mr. John Aquilina, “the Month of Malta Culture” was hosted in Beijing, “China and Malta’s friendship - Malta Painting and Photo Exhibition” successfully presented Malta culture to many people in China. Those series activities closely connected China with Malta and opened Chinese people’s eyes. Ambassador John Aquilina made solid efforts to promote China and Malta’s friendship. In 2015, Malta became a founding member of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, one of the first European countries to join the AIIB.
